The Process - CN Bridgewater © 1999 30" x 60" Oil on Panel
The following sequence of images illustrate some of the stages which result in a finished painting. This painting required more than twelve hundred hours from conception to completion.
An old truck sitting at a service station provided the core of the idea. The train station was later decided on as a suitable background; and the two young people were last to enter the composition.

This is the completed line sketch. The buyer commissioned both the painting and the finished drawing from this cartoon.

The detailed drawing which was completed from the sketch, or cartoon. The drawing was then copied to a 30" x 60" panel.

The artwork is first painted completely in black and white. This shows the underpainting in progress.

After the underpainting is completed, colour is begun.
